Increased Earning Exemptions

If receiving income support, as an incentive to employment an earning exemption reduces the amount of earnings considered, and will likely increase the monthly income for an individual who currently receives income support.

Any adult who enters the workforce will not have their benefits adjusted for the first 30 days of employment. After the first 30 days of employment, a reassessment of an individual’s eligibility for income support benefits is required. The reassessment of benefits for adults with disabilities, who require assistance with daily living, will have the exemption levels increased, to allow an individual to keep more of their earnings if they are still eligible to receive some income support.
